MUSEUM OF COLLECTIVE WISDOM

The Museum of Collective Wisdom is a participatory public art initiative created by writer, conceptual artist and peacebuilder, Lynette Sifiso. Rooted in social practice, it draws from an enduring African heritage in which archiving, oral tradition, dialogue and cultural preservation open spaces for connection across generations.

The Museum of Collective Wisdom is co-created by people of all ages and backgrounds connected to Africa x Diaspora. It is comprised of four themed galleries; Our Stories, Re-Imagined Futures, People. Planet. Prosperity, and A Culture of Peace.

Each gallery is archived digitally and is showcased as an installation in travelling exhibits.

An integral component of the Museum and its installations is a public invitation for people to contribute as co-creators to any of the galleries with their own words and stories, creating new knowledge and meaning as the Museum evolves over time.

The Museum centers the idea of community and honors individual contributions to the collective voice. As co-creators, people add to the collective and in turn, engage in dialogue with the contributions of others.

Mission Statement:

The Museum of Collective Wisdom is dedicated to uniting people from diverse backgrounds and generations connected to Africa and the Diaspora, centering their stories and voices. The purpose of this initiative is to create a space where individuals, as co-creators, contribute to an ever-evolving tapestry of shared wisdom, fostering meaningful dialogue and connections across cultures and time. Through four thematic galleries, the Museum celebrates the power of collective knowledge and honors the uniqueness of individual contributions. The aim is to create an archive and inspire a culture of peace, sustainability, and the reimagining of our shared future, while preserving and sharing the enduring wisdom of African heritage.
